After you develop a product you need people to buy it. Sales letter is a medium by which you communicate about your product to your people.

A sales letter or sales page is the web page where you will pitch your product to your visitors. A sales letter is also called web copy or sales copy. Your sales letter should convince visitors that your service is either unique or superior to that of your competitors in terms of quality, and is competitively priced.

It should tell your potential clients that you have the solution they are seeking. It should repeatedly show them that your product or service will solve their problems, answer a dream, enrich their lives, and/or improve their businesses.

Remember the steps outlined in product creation. You have built a product for people’s needs. It either fulfills there desire, dream or solves the problem they are facing. Now is the time to tell the people that you have a product that would take care of their demand. This is achieved by the sales letter.

Internet is a faceless world. Your web copy will become the face of your company. It is pertinent that you make it good. Your web copy plays a major role in establishing and growing your customer base. A good web copy delights the visitors, encourages return visits and makes customer out of your visitors.

Writing a good web copy is an art. You can write your own web copy or outsource it to a good copywriter. However good copywriters are quite expensive. If you invest time in learning this art, the rewards are phenomenal.

Today people hardly stay on a web page for more than few seconds until they find something that hooks them. You have one chance to make a first impression to quickly convey the benefit of staying on your website. The written content in a sales letter should be accompanied by a layout, functionality, message and overall look and feel of your web page.

The goal of any web page should be to get the visitor to do something - to move on to the next step in a purchase sequence or to click for more information about a product or service. Without readable, compelling copy and clearly organized hypertext links, visitors are much less likely to complete a transaction and return to your site again.

Like everything you become good in writing a sales letter by learning and doing. There are many aspects of sales letter like visitors perspective, a good usage of the language, using psychological triggers.

In internet business, this is a skill that you cannot survive without.
